Jean Paul here Germanizes (or Frenchifies) the Latin word territio (a terrifying). The meaning is, that this marriage might well be an tw lerrorem affair to poor Luigi (as well as to the bride, according to Schoppe's droll conceit, that all this furor of joy was a mere noise made to scare her back).
